Terms of service
Last updated: 1 February 2026
1. What QuoteMyMove is
QuoteMyMove is an introduction service. We take the details of a job you need doing, pass them to approved professionals who cover your area, and they contact you with quotes.
We are not a party to any contract you make with a professional. The work, the price, the timing and any dispute about them are between you and the firm you choose. We are not their agent and they are not ours.
These terms apply to everyone who uses the site. Sections 2 to 5 are about customers; sections 6 to 10 are about professionals.
2. Free for customers, and what that means
Customers pay us nothing — no fee, no card, no subscription, no commission on the work. Professionals pay us for the introduction. That is our only source of revenue from the marketplace.
Because you pay us nothing, nothing is deducted from any quote you receive, and no professional pays us more to appear ahead of another.
3. How many firms hear from you
When you submit an enquiry you choose how many professionals may receive it:
- Compare quotes — the enquiry is offered to a maximum of five professionals. Once five have taken it, no one else can, whatever happens afterwards.
- One professional — the enquiry is offered to exactly one, and is withdrawn from the marketplace as soon as they take it.
These are limits we enforce in the software, not targets. A professional cannot buy their way past them.
We cannot promise that any professional will take your enquiry, or how quickly. If nobody does, tell us and we will look at why.
4. What we ask of you
Give us details that are accurate and your own. We verify your phone number by text before an enquiry is released, because professionals are paying for it. Submitting someone else's details, or details you have invented, may mean we remove your access.
Photos you upload must be yours to share and must not show other people without their agreement.
5. Reviews
Only customers we can tie to a real completed job can leave a review, and we invite them by a link sent to the address on the enquiry. We do not write reviews, we do not buy them, and we do not offer anything in exchange for one.
We may decline to publish a review that identifies someone, is abusive, or is about something other than the work. We will not remove a review simply because the professional dislikes it. If a professional believes a review is untrue they can tell us and we will look at it.
6. Becoming a professional on the network
Before a firm can receive enquiries we check its identity, its registration at Companies House where it has one, and its insurance. Approval is at our discretion and we may decline without giving reasons.
Staying on the network means keeping those things current, responding to the enquiries you take, and treating customers decently. We may suspend or remove a firm for repeated complaints, misrepresentation, or contacting people who did not ask to be contacted.
7. What an enquiry costs, and how the wallet works
Professionals hold a balance in pounds and pay a fixed price per enquiry, taken from that balance when they choose to take it. Nothing is ever taken without that choice.
The price is shown before you commit, together with the reasons for it. It varies with how complete and urgent the enquiry is, and with the size of the job — an enquiry offered to one firm only costs more than one shared with five, because it is worth more. Our list prices per service are published at quotemymove.co.uk/pricing.
Balance is bought through Stripe, does not expire, and is not transferable between accounts. It is not a deposit and does not earn interest. We may change list prices with notice; enquiries already taken are unaffected.
8. Refunds on enquiries
An enquiry is a fixed-price introduction, not a promise of work, so a firm that quotes and loses is not entitled to a refund. What we do refund is an introduction that was never usable:
- the contact details do not reach the customer
- the enquiry was invented or is a duplicate of one already bought
- the job is outside the area the enquiry stated
- the customer cannot be reached after reasonable, evidenced attempts
Ask through your dashboard within 14 days, with what you tried. We look at each on its facts and credit the balance where it is due. Refunds are to the wallet, not to a card.
9. Acceptable use
Do not scrape the marketplace, resell or pass on enquiry data, contact anyone whose enquiry you have not taken, misrepresent who you are or what you are qualified to do, or use the site to harass anyone. We may suspend an account immediately for any of these and report conduct to the relevant authority where the law requires it.
10. Ending it
You can stop using QuoteMyMove whenever you like and ask us to close your account. Unused wallet balance is refundable on closure where the account is in good standing; write to us and we will arrange it.
We may close an account for a breach of these terms, and will say why unless the law prevents us.
11. Liability
We introduce you to each other; we do not do the work and we do not supervise it. We are not liable for the quality, timing, safety or legality of what a professional does, nor for anything a customer says or does.
Where we are liable, our liability to a customer is limited to what that customer has paid us, which is nothing. Our liability to a professional is limited to the fees that professional paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by anything written here.
12. If something goes wrong
Tell us. Our complaints procedure sets out what we do and how long it takes. A complaint about the work itself should go to the firm that did it first, but we still want to know, because it affects whether they stay on the network.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by Scots law, and the Scottish courts have jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the law where you live: you may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales or Northern Ireland if that is where you are, and you keep any rights your local consumer law gives you.
14. Changes
We may update these terms. Where a change materially affects you we will tell registered users at least 14 days before it takes effect, and the date at the top of this page always shows when it last changed.
