Before move day
- Update microchip records with new address
- Stock up on 2 weeks of usual food (avoid abrupt switches)
- Order familiar bedding and toys for the new home
- Plan a quiet room your pet can be in during the move
Move day tactics
- Confine cats indoors for 7–14 days at the new property
- Walk dogs in advance — tired dogs travel better
- Use Feliway or Adaptil diffusers in the destination room
- Travel water bowls and a familiar blanket in the car
